Launching the Prototype of MiMercadoAMG
In the latest edition of the Online Advisory Programme (OAP) of the International Smart Cities Network (ISCN), participants received an update on the launch of the piloting phase of the digital solution „Mi Mercado AMG“ in the market Mexicaltzingo in the Municipality of Guadalajara.

After several months of conducting user research, hosting co-creation sessions with local market vendors and potential customers a first prototype of the digital solution as web and mobile version has been built. On the 19th of October the piloting phase of the digital solution „Mi Mercado AMG“ was launched in the market Mexicaltzingo in the Municipality of Guadalajara. The piloting phase was launched by Mr. Pablo Lemus, Mayor of Guadalajara, Mr. Mario Silva, Director of the Metropolitan Planning and Management Institute of the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara (IMEPLAN) and Mrs. Margarita Marisacal, leader of the market vendors of the market Mexicaltzingo.
The market Mexicaltzingo in the Municipality of Guadalajara was selected as pilot market, since it fulfills the predefined selection criteria. These include among others a manageable size for the pilot (62 stores), the location of the market and its relationship to surrounding urban spaces as well as the current visibility of the project on the internet, as the market already offers some home delivery facilities.
Next steps of piloting phase
1. Online and on-site capacity building with local market vendors
After the launch of the piloting phase it is now important to support the local market vendors getting acquainted with the new digital solution. Therefore, within this phase, interested market vendors will receive online and on-site capacity development for the use of the digital solution, business management and data protection.
2. Transfer package
As a final step, a transfer package with source code and manuals will be developed to scale the digital solution to other municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara, other cities in Mexico and the world.
