Co-creation and digital solutions in cities

What does Smart City have to do with climate change? What exactly is a citizen-centred innovation process? And how can I actually use agile methods in my city?

The practical guide Co-Creating Climate Smart Cities offers concrete answers to these and other questions on the topic of co-creation at the intersection between urban development, climate adaptation and digital transformation. The guidebook draws on the knowledge and experience of the GIZ Project “ICT-based Adaptation to Climate Change in Cities”. The project is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and was implemented in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community. The practical guide combines detailed methodological knowledge and practical examples from the three partner countries India, Mexico and Peru.

In addition, Co-Creating Climate Smart Cities provides an extensively documented rapid assessment tool for cities on ICT-based climate change adaptation, a comprehensive training toolbox on responsible data management in cities and municipalities, and guidance on designing and implementing a citizen-centred innovation process using agile methods.
