New podcast on data sovereignty in municipalities

A new “Smart City Dialogue” podcast episode on the topic of data sovereignty in municipalities is now online. The podcast looks at the legislative aspects of a digital urban transformation asking how municipalities can ensure data sovereignty for themselves and for their citizens.  Possible solutions are seen in a cooperation approach across sectors as well as in open source solutions.

Our interview partner is Malcolm Bain, a lawyer at Across Legal, a law firm in Barcelona. Mr Bain is specialised in information technology and intellectual property law. He has a wide experience representing clients on both sides of IT transactions, including several public administrations, and is a member of the Free Software Foundation Europe. In this podcast, Malcolm Bain shares his insights into the potentials of data as common/public good in municipalities and addresses possible consequences.
