The Smart City Dialogue is an offer from the Federal Government for all those who are concerned with the opportunities of digitalisation in urban development. Here you will find inspiration, solutions and offers for sustainable and liveable smart cities and regions.

To address the opportunities and challenges of digitalisation for urban development, the German government set up the National Dialogue Platform Smart Cities in 2016. The National Dialogue Platform Smart Cities was tasked with developing positions and recommendations for action on the digital transformation.

All dates and events related to smart cities organised or recommended by the Smart City Dialogue can be found here. A filter enables a more precise search, presenting the results by keywords for programmes and projects, event types or specific time periods.

Many of the services offered by the Coordination and Transfer Office Model Projects Smart Cities (KTS) are aimed at all municipalities in Germany, including non-funded cities, municipalities and regions. This page presents an overview of these offers, with which the KTS can support municipalities in the planning or implementation of sustainable, integrated smart city concepts, strategies and measures geared towards the common good.

The city of Leipzig has established with its Data Week a “forum for Data and AI enthusiasts”. And it hosted a session with the ISCN and the Namibian town of Lüderitz to discuss how smart city use cases and approaches can be kickstarted globally, even with limited resources.

How do young people the world over approach issues in smart cities? The International Smart Cities Network (ISCN) tried to find out with its "ISCN Smart City University Challenge". Students from Canada, Germany and the Netherlands tackled in sprints the question of how to illuminate "known unknowns" with data in the city.
